South Essex Cross-Country League Race 1

This is a team event with the first six men and four women in scoring for the team, although two of the men and one of the women have to be veterans.  But we still need as many club members to take part as possible as this reduces the points scored by the teams from other clubs. 

As always, you don’t have to be fast, you don’t have to be experienced, you just need to be able to complete the race distance.

Races start at 10am. The men’s and ladies teams run together.

Race Distance: 6.8 km / 4.25 miles

Entry fee is £5 per person - pay in advance via BACS transfer or on the day

Runners must wear their Pitsea Running Club colours.

Presentations to take place at 11:45 – 12:00 as soon as results collated.

Update from Race Hosts Leigh-on-Sea Striders:-

The route remains largely unchanged; however, I have added a small addition just toward 2km where we head to the top of the hill and avoid the gravel paths. This also reduces the kissing gates by 2.

The majority of the route is soft underfoot with a few sections of mud, some parts ankle deep, however there is no standing water yet despite my continued hopes for more rain. Having run in Inov8 X-Talon trail shoes on Tuesday, I would recommend trail shoes or spikes for all.

Car parking charges are in force. Parking charges are £3.20 for 2 hours, £4.70 up to 3 hours, and £6.30 for longer! Car sharing is highly recommended, and payment should be made at the machines in car park before exiting.

Due to the policy at Hadleigh Park, refreshments will not be provided (except water at the finish) but hot/cold drinks and food are available from the Hub café
