About the Event
This is a team event with the first six men and four women in scoring for the team, although two of the men and one of the women have to be veterans. But we still need as many club members to take part as possible as this reduces the points scored by the teams from other clubs.
Races start at 10am. The men’s and ladies teams run together and the race distance is usually 4 - 5 miles.
Entry fee is £5 per person - pay on the day
Runners must wear their Pitsea Running Club colours and display the allocated club letter on the front of their vest.
As always, you don’t have to be fast, you don’t have to be experienced, you just need to be able to complete the race distance.
THE VENUE is on the A128 approximately 500 metres north of the “Halfway House” roundabout at the junction with the A127. Look for the brown Country Park signpost.
CAR PARKING is adjacent to the start area. Please ensure that the parking bay nearest to the Forest Cafe is kept clear for emergency vehicles and parking for disabled members of the public. Parking meters are in operation and are enforced. Input of car registration number is required, so allow extra time for parking. Please car share.
THE RACE is a single lap course, which will be marked by cones, posts, tape and marshalled. The distance is 7.5 kilometres (say 4.6 miles). As the course has some hard rutted areas with some sections of stone chippings, spikes are not advisable. For safety reasons some small variations to the course as shown on the route map may be required on the day. Just follow the markers and the Marshals’ instructions.
TOILETS are located at the rear of the Forest Cafe but there are no additional changing rooms.
REFRESHMENTS Available after the race in the Forest Cafe
